Make a change in the world

  • Founded in 2018, Juvo uses engineering to help the community. Freshmen are tasked with designing a solution for someone in the disabled community. In the past, Juvo has created solutions for accessibility in production, wheelchair disabilities, motor impairments, and more!

  • The RESNA Student Design Competition is an annual event organized by the Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America (RESNA). It challenges students to develop innovative assistive technology solutions that enhance the lives of individuals with disabilities. Participants, typically from diverse engineering and design disciplines, showcase their creativity and problem-solving skills, aiming to address real-world challenges faced by people with disabilities. The competition serves as a platform for aspiring professionals to contribute to the field of assistive technology while fostering collaboration and raising awareness about the importance of inclusive design.

Dive into a real NASA mission

  • Founded in 2015, Astra challenges students to design, build, and test a device related to space exploration. Astra has built devices such as a spacesuit cooling system, a lunar anchoring device, an autonomous rescue boat, and more!

  • Hosted by NASA, students design, build, and test a device that addresses a current space exploration problem. The experience includes hands-on engineering design, test, manufacturing, and prototyping. Testing is conducted in the simulated microgravity environment at NASA Johnson Space Center Neutral Buoyancy Laboratory (NBL). Professional NBL divers will test the tools and students will direct the divers from the Test Conductor Room of the NBL facility. Micro-g NExT provides a unique opportunity to contribute to NASA’s missions.

Code the next great thing

  • Founded in 2020, Infinitum offers an exciting opportunity to develop and build hardware and software addressing real-world problems. Infinitum has tackled problems such as food recognition in fridges, restaurant food waste management, and more!

  • Imagine Cup is an annual competition sponsored and hosted by Microsoft which brings together student developers worldwide to help resolve some of the world's toughest challenges. It is considered as the "Olympics of Technology" by computer science and engineering and is recognized as one of the top competitions and awards related to technology and software design. All Imagine Cup competitors create projects that address the Imagine Cup theme: "Imagine a world where technology helps solve the toughest problems". Participants develop, test, and build their ideas into applications that can change the world.

Pioneer the future of robotics

  • Founded in 2024, Terra provides students with the opportunity to design, build, drive, and compete a robot based on the season’s game manual and rules. Terra is Archimedes’ newest team, and strives to create a welcoming introduction to collegiate robotics!

  • The Student Design Competition is an annual competition hosted by ASME, The American Society of Mechanical Engineers and sponsored by Boeing. Some past challenges include harnessing renewable energy (wind or solar) to transport weights, using water’s potential energy as a propeller, and making a robot capable of playing mini golf. Within the constraints of the competition, students have the opportunity to go through the engineering design process and create a unique product they are proud of.
